Found in a souk in the United Arab Emirates, this year’s Species Rara is a spice that was brought by Arab merchants to Europe in the 11th century, where it was mistaken for the dried blossoms of nutmeg trees. To create the Distiller’s Cut, our secret ingredient is added to a macerate containing the 47 ingredients found in the brand’s core expression. The botanicals are then distilled again in a second extraction procedure, left to mature for three months in earthenware containers, and finally combined with local spring water.
