It is the largest landholder in the famously fragmented Pinot Noir clos, owning nearly 11 percent of the land therein. It is also the only other major building – aside from the famous Château du Clos de Vougeot – within the walls. The estate's holdings total just under 5.5 hectares (13 acres) in plots on the middle and upper slopes of the clos. Château de la Tour's best parcel is planted to vines that are more than 100 years old, and are the source for the Cuvée Vieilles Vignes as well as the Cuvée Hommage Jean Morin wines – the latter named after owner François Labet's grandfather. The château itself was built in 1890, and today serves as the winery for both Chateau de la Tour and Domaine Pierre Labet wines. The grapes are whole-bunch fermented and then matured in French oak barrels for 16-18 months.
