Leonildo Pieropan established the estate at Palazzo Pullici and since then successive generations of the Pieropan family have taken on the responsibilities of the estate and its three organically farmed vineyards: Calvarino, La Rocca and Garzon. The Calvarino vineyard is situated in the Soave Classico region and its stone terraces have been cultivated by the Pieropan family since 1901. The vineyard takes its name from the Italian for \"small ordeal\", as the volcanic-rich soils create particularly difficult viticultural conditions for its Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave grapes. The family's second vineyard in the Soave Classico zone, La Rocca, sits atop chalky, clay soils on southwest-facing slopes.
