Bunnahabhain 30 Year Old 1988 Marsala Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Distilled on 1st December 1988, this Islay single malt has been matured for almost three decades before being transferred to four Marsala wine hogsheads from Sicily to mature for a further two years. Bottled in 2019 at a natural cask strength of 47.4% abv, this 30-year-old expression is limited to just 1,260 bottles, each one presented free from chill filtration and artificial colouring.

Nose: Rich oak, sweet fruits, nuts and berries with a hint of candied fruit.

Palate: Rounded and well-balanced with rich oak, honeyed nuts, sweet grape, fruit and nut chocolate, caramel and subtle wood spice.

Finish: Long and fruity with sweet oak aspects.

Distillery Information

The Bunnahabhain Distillery (Scottish Gaelic: Taigh-staile Bun na h-Abhainne, [t??'s?t?al? pun?'hav??]) was founded in 1881 near Port Askaig on Islay. The village of Bunnahabhain was founded to house its workers. Since 2014 the distillery has been owned by Distell and is one of nine active distilleries on the island. The Bunnahabhain is one of the milder single malt Islay whiskies available and its taste varies greatly from other spirits to be found on the island of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland. The name Bunnahabhain is an anglicisation of Bun na h-Abhainne, Scottish Gaelic for Mouth of the River.
