The 35 hectare (86.4 acres) vineyard of Château Mangot is planted with approximately 85 percent Merlot and 10 percent Cabernet Franc with a tiny portion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines average 40 years of age and are planted on limestone and clay-based soil types. The Grand Vin is primarily fermented in stainless steel prior to malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. Barrel-aging is between 12 and 16 months depending on the vintage.
