In 1919, it was one of the founding members of West Highland Malt Distilleries which brought together six Campbeltown distilleries in an attempt to share costs and stave off potential closure. Five of the six failed, but in 1924 when the axe was falling across Campbeltown, Scotia was purchased by Duncan MacCallum who had founded Glen Nevis. He was forced to close it in 1928, but it reopened in 1930. That year however, MacCallum committed suicide after owing his life savings in a scam (his ghost is said to haunt the distillery) and it was bought by Bloch Bros [see Glengyle, Scapa] which added ‘Glen’ to the name.\u003c\/p\u003e","published_at":"2023-04-12T11:47:19-04:00","created_at":"2023-04-04T07:39:38-04:00","vendor":"CaskCartel.com","type":"Whiskey","tags":["LK0404","Proof_100 - 125 (50 - 62.5% ABV)","Source_Vista0423","Type_Whiskey","VOOS23"],"price":27195,"price_min":27195,"price_max":27195,"available":true,"price_varies":false,"compare_at_price":null,"compare_at_price_min":0,"compare_at_price_max":0,"compare_at_price_varies":false,"variants":[{"id":42883588161674,"title":"Default Title","option1":"Default Title","option2":null,"option3":null,"sku":"","requires_shipping":true,"taxable":false,"featured_image":null,"available":true,"name":"Glen Scotia Victoriana Cask Strength","public_title":null,"options":["Default Title"],"price":27195,"weight":5443,"compare_at_price":null,"inventory_management":"shopify","barcode":"","requires_selling_plan":false,"selling_plan_allocations":[],"quantity_rule":{"min":1,"max":null,"increment":1}}],"images":["\/\/caskcartel.com\/cdn\/shop\/products\/23_27d9c273-3c49-4fa9-8ad6-b61e762f27c9.jpg?v=1680608599"],"featured_image":"\/\/caskcartel.com\/cdn\/shop\/products\/23_27d9c273-3c49-4fa9-8ad6-b61e762f27c9.jpg?v=1680608599","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":"Glen Scotia Victoriana Cask Strength | 750ML at CaskCartel.com","id":24501957263498,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":0.673,"height":891,"width":600,"src":"\/\/caskcartel.com\/cdn\/shop\/products\/23_27d9c273-3c49-4fa9-8ad6-b61e762f27c9.jpg?v=1680608599"},"aspect_ratio":0.673,"height":891,"media_type":"image","src":"\/\/caskcartel.com\/cdn\/shop\/products\/23_27d9c273-3c49-4fa9-8ad6-b61e762f27c9.jpg?v=1680608599","width":600}],"requires_selling_plan":false,"selling_plan_groups":[],"content":"\u003ch2\u003eWhiskey: Glen Scotia Victoriana Cask Strength\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGlen Scotia's Victoriana sees the Campbeltown distillery's single malt drawn from casks with a particularly heavy char profile, imparting plenty of rich, roasty-toasty notes.
