Glen Breton Rare is a Canadian single malt (not many of those around!) which is aged for 10 years in American oak casks. The Glenora distillery, where Glen Breton is produced, resides in the beautiful Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The name 'Glen Breton' was a point of contention, even before the whisky was released!
Glen Breton Rare 10 Year Old Canadian Single Malt Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweet. Baked apples. Some baking spices. A hint of honey. Perhaps a little floral. Slightly syrupy.
Palate: A little thin on the mouthfeel. Sweet. Slightly spirity. Sour in the development.
Finish: Dry and sour finish. Slightly oaky. Maybe some pepper.
Distillery Information
Glenora Distillers is a distiller based in Glenville, Nova Scotia, Canada, on Cape Breton Island. Their most prominent product is Glen Breton Rare whisky, made in the Scottish-style in that it is a single malt whisky, not a rye, as is traditional in Canada. The distillery also makes several specialty whiskies and rum, and operates the Glenora Inn & Distillery as a tourist attraction and bed and breakfast. Glenora Distillers is now[when?] one of four single malt Scottish-style distilleries in Canada.
