Frédéric Esmonin, cousin to fellow domaine-owner Sylvie Esmonin, joined his father in the running of the family business in 1988 and, in the same year, the domaine began bottling and selling its wines entirely independently. Concurrently to this, Frédéric Esmonin also founded a négociant brand called Les Estournelles. The domaine has two grand cru vineyard plots in Gevrey-Chambertin, planted between 1949 and 1959 – Mazis- and Ruchottes-Chambertin – as well as three premier cru climats – Champonnet, Lavaut Saint-Jacques and Estournelles-Saint-Jacques.
