The sixth-generation family estate was founded by Carl Gunderloch in 1890 and is known for its Riesling wines, especially those from the renowned Nackenheimer Rothenberg vineyard. The Rothenberg vineyard, one of the only Erste Lage vineyards in the Rheinhessen, is almost entirely owned by Weingut Gunderloch. The estate is made up of 24 hectares (59 acres) of vineyard land, 85 percent of which is planted to Riesling and 10 percent to Gewürztraminer, Silvaner and Pinot Noir.
