Distillery Information

Weingut Peter Jacob Kühn is a Rheingau wine producer that has been family-owned for approximately 230 years. Located in Oestrich-Winkel on the banks of the Rhine River the estate produces a collection of wines focusing on the Riesling grape variety. The Peter Jacob Kühn wine portfolio is centred around Riesling but also includes Pinot Noir and a range of sparkling wines from Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois.  The full spectrum of German VDP Rielsing wines are produced by Peter Jacob Kühn from Gutsweine to Grosse Lage. Vineyard is planted with a high density of vines - up to 10,000 per hectare. This concentration forces the vines root system to penetrate deep into the soil and keeps vines small and low-yielding. Vines have been farmed according to biodynamic agriculture since 2004. Grapes are hand-picked in the vineyard to preserve their integrity and prevent excess oxygenation. Wild yeasts from the vineyard and winery are employed for innoculation with fermentation taking place in stainless steel tanks.
