Single Cask Nation Cameronbridge 26 Year Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky

Single Cask Nation is the only independent bottler of Scotch Whisky based here in the US. Owned and operated by Joshua Hatton and Jason Johnstone-Yellin, the aim is to uncover the finest and rarest single casks and then bottle them at full cask strength. Though the focus is on Scotch whiskies, Single Cask Nation also bottles wonderful bourbons, rye whiskies, Indian whiskies, and even cask-aged Mezcals from some of the most famous, well-known, and respected producers in the world.

Single Cask Nation Cameronbridge 26 Year Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Cooked stone fruits, spiced cured meats, baked avocado with red pepper flakes, fresh party balloons, pickled walnuts, dusty bookshelves, hints of smoked cumin, fresh deck of playing cards.

Palate: Mouth puckering sherry dryness with more pickled walnuts, roasted red fruits, and warm cinnamon with hints of distant struck match. The mouthfeel is dense and waxy with additional rich sherry oak notes (without being too woody), crushed and cooked walnuts, and a concentrated sherry reduction.

Finish: Long and rich with warm oak, soft black pepper, and a lingering red fruit juiciness.

Distillery Information

The Cameronbridge distillery meanwhile went from strength to strength and now, in the ownership of Diageo, is one of the largest distilleries in Europe. In 2014, Diageo launched a new Haig whisky to add to the existing old guard whisky stable of Haig Gold Label, Haig Dimple and Haig Pinch blended scotch whiskies. Haig Club, in its distinctive square blue bottle and luxury packaging, is a smooth, versatile and easy drinking single grain scotch whisky aimed at converting a new generation of younger drinker over to the wonderful world of Scotch Single Grain Whisky. Diageo say that it’s a blend of three grain whiskies each of which have been matured in different types of casks.
