      Detailed Description

This wine is always ready to go, straight out of the chute. We recommend drinking this wine while you are waiting for the other two. Sweet juicy strawberry pie with great acidity, freshness, and a nice tannic core. Blend: 51% Syrah, 31% Grenache, 18%. Mourvedre

        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: The 2012 Terry Hoage Vineyard (330 cases) is a thrilling blend of 51% Syrah, 31% Grenache and 18% Mourvedre. It has an up front approachable and sexy feel in its cherry blossom and black raspberry fruit, crushed flowers and spice aromas and flavors.
        • Vinous: Silky and layered in the glass, the 2012 Terry Hoage Vineyard is a bit laid back for a site that has typically yielded more forward, fruit-driven wines. Plum, sweet spice and mint notes are all laced together nicely in the glass. Overall, the 2012 is a very pretty, feminine wine built more on grace than power. The 2012 is 51% Syrah, 31% Grenache and 18 Mourvèdre, picked a little earlier than the other wines in the range.

        Producer Information

Saxum Vineyards is a Californian wine producer in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles. It is known for its portfolio of red blends produced from the key Rhône varieties: Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The estate was planted at the end of the 1980s with a majority of vines now over 40 years of age. Located a mere 10 miles (16km) from the coast, unearthed fossilized whale bones have been discovered here requiring a jack hammer to plant the vines. Planted throughout an undulating landscape the vineyards are located on slopes at an altitude of approximately 1200 feet (365 meters).Saxum's portfolio now features a collection of proprietary cuvées. The Rhône varieties reign supreme, but there are small plantings of other grapes like Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, which are used in small amounts. Strict yields inform the limited production of roughly 5500 cases annually.
