Detailed Description

This single cask bottling comes from the family-run indie bottler, Hunter Laing & Co. of Glasgow. The firm has been bottling some of the finest Scotch whiskies in their extensive portfolio for decades and this 21-year-old Arran single malt has been bottled in retro packaging to celebrate 20 years of The Old Malt Cask range. Distilled in 1997 and bottled in August 2018, just 636 bottles have been filled at a preferred strength of 50% abv.

Nose: Pineapple and treacle, with a little sponge cake in support (sounds like a tasty pudding...).

Palate: More pineapple, though now it's been coated in sugar and roasted. Dried barley and a hint of toasted oak follow on.

Finish: Lemon peel, sultana, almond and cherry bakewell tart.

Distillery Information

Situated on the Isle of Arran, Arran Distillery was founded in 1994 by Harold Currie, the former director at Chivas Distillery, and is one of the last remaining independent distilleries in Scotland. When the distillery was finally completed in 1995 — construction was halted for nearly a year when a pair of Golden Eagles built their nest near the distillery — it became the first legal distillery on the Isle of Arran in over 150 years.
