This is another 'tribute' whiskey from Michters, honoring the legacy of historic American whiskey figure John Shenk, who in 1753 founded a distillery that was to become known as Michter's in the 20th Century. It's made in Kentucky according to the traditional Sour Mash process whereby a portion of the previously distilled whiskey mash (referred to as "setback") is added into the next batch. Bottled at 45.6%, the 2018 release is limited to 1810 bottles.

Nose: Notes of caramel, wet oak, and sweet honey and citrus zest on the nose.
Palate: The palate is spicy with lightly charred oak, citrus, caramel sweetness, charred oak.
Finish: The finish is smooth.
Distillery Information
Bomberger's Distillery, more recently Michter's Distillery, is a non-operating distillery facility that was, at the end of the twentieth century, believed to be the oldest remaining such building in the United States. The distillery closed in 1989 and may have since been demolished.
