Whiskey: Cambus 1975 40 Year Old Special Releases 2016 Lowland Single Grain Scotch | 700ML
The first official bottling of Cambus since at least the turn of the 20th century, this 40 year old was released as one of the headline bottles of the Diageo Special Releases 2016. Classic grain whisky notes are balanced by huge fruity character, giving one of the best grains we've tried in years.

Detailed Description
Detailed Description
Following last year's Cally 40 Year Old, it's now Cambus' turn to provide a well-aged official bottling of single grain for the Special Releases. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this is also the oldest ever official bottling of Cambus. Aged in refill American oak hogsheads, just 1,812 bottles have been produced.
Cambus 1975 40 Year Old Special Releases 2016 Lowland Single Grain Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich fudge pieces with an aromatic edge reminiscent of fabric softener. Fruit soon develops with gooseberries in cream and a little pear drop.
Palate: Baked pears now, in pastry, with hints of cinnamon, fresh flowers, cloves and lemon thyme.
Finish: Pow! Peach melba and a touch of pot pourri, fragrant and delicious.
Distillery Information
The Cambus distillery dates back to the early 1800s - it was opened in 1836 in a village that shares its name near Alloa. Here it quietly produced its whiskies, becoming one of the first members of the Distillers Company Ltd. In 1913, a fire destroyed much of the distillery, forcing it to close until 1938. Cambus produced grain whisky, a lot of which made its way into blends, though you can still find independent bottlings of their single grain if you’re lucky (it’s fantastic stuff). The distillery was closed in 1993 by its owner, UDV.
