Craigellachie 31 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

A very limited expression aged for more than 30 years, this Speyside single malt was named World's Best Single Malt in 2017. Presented at a cask strength of 52.2% abv in a beautifully crafted wooden display case.

Craigellachie 31 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Waxed apples, pineapple, damp forest floors, toasted oats and honey flapjacks, Hob Nob biscuits, buttered toast with apple jam, salted caramel and butter icing. Citrus hints flash through the centre and a bed of sour, dark oak with hazelnuts and almonds sits below.

Palate: Sugared almonds and balanced barrel-char bitterness come up against apples and marzipan. Salted caramel, nut brittle and bittersweet brûlée topping follow with hints of char.

Finish: Sharp apple and a sprinkle of cinnamon cook down into a rich and fruity apple pie filling, complete with caramelised edges. Hob nobs and barley sugar appear at the end.

The Craigellachie distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Aberlour, Banffshire near the village of Craigellachie at the centre of the Speyside whisky producing area of Scotland. The name Craigellachie means 'rocky hill' and refers to the cliff that overlooks the Spey across from The Macallan distillery.
