Loch Lomond 20 Year Old | The Open Course Collection | Single Malt Scotch Whiskey

Darren Clarke worked with Loch Lomond Whiskies Master Blender Michael Henry to create the Open Course Collection Royal St George's, a 20-year-old single malt. To celebrate our visit to England for the first time since becoming The Spirit of the Open Michael’s choice of casks, specially commissioned English Virgin Oak, brings out the fruit character created by the innovative stills at Loch Lomond distillery. This 20-year-old single malt has been matured in our finest American oak casks before being finished in English Virgin oak, creating a stunning liquid with an underlying fruit character.

Nose: Spiced apple, elderflower and sweet vanilla.

Palate: Caramel sweetness, green apple and honeydew melon, then toasted oak and clove of spice.

Finish: Dry, lingering finish of lime citrus, cumin and ginger.

Distillery Information

Loch Lomond Distillery was commissioned by the Littlemill Distilling Company in 1964 with first distillation in 1966. In 1984, the distillery closed - or fell silent, to use the traditional term. Happily though, Alexander Bulloch and the Glen Catrine company acquired the business and resumed malt production in 1987. Grain whisky production began in 1993 and two new malt stills were added in 1999.
