      Producer Information

Ceretto is a wine producer in Piedmont, making top-quality Barolo and Barbaresco. Founded by Ricardo Ceretto in 1930, it is famous for being a pioneer of the trend toward single-vineyard Barolo wines. The company grew considerably in the 1970s and two wineries were constructed. Bricco Roche in Barolo, and one in Barbaresco, known as Bricco Asili, both named for vineyard sites in their respective appellations. They were created to produce wines exclusively from single vineyard sites that were selected by Ricardo's in the mid-20th Century. The first vintage of these "cru" wines was in 1986, from the Bricco Roche vineyard in Barolo. Ceretto has since followed up with several other single-vineyard expressions. These wines are fermented in stainless steel with the use of wild yeasts prior to barrel ageing in French oak for up to two years. The wines are delicate, yet intense, with powerful aromas of fruit, spice, chocolate and truffle. In Barbaresco, Ceretto produces three DOCG wines, Bernardot, Gallina and Asili, at the Bricco Asili winery. These vineyards have soils of marl, clay, silt and sand. In addition to Ceretto's Barolo and Barbaresco wines, the estate produces several other wines from around Piedmont. These include a Langhe DOC Bianco, a Dolcetto d'Alba, and a generic Barolo DOCG.
