Glen Mhor 1965 50 Year Old Rare Reserve Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML

This 1965 Glen Mhor was awarded 90 points by Serge Valentin on Whiskyfun. Initially matured in a refill butt, it was finished in an oloroso-sherry cask for 88 months. This 50-year-old whisky has notes of menthol, spice and a whack of umami.

Nose: Delightful aroma.

Palate: There is a much greater presence of peat in the taste than the nose suggests. The smokiness quickly hits the palate and then tapers off.

Finish: A very long finish.

Distillery Information

Glen Mhor operated for less than a century, being founded in 1892 and closing in 1983. The distillery was located directly at the Caledonian Canal in Inverness, in the Scottish North Highlands. John Birnie and James Mackinlay of Charles Mackinlay & Co founded the distillery, both blenders from Leith.
