Glendronach 1995 Oloroso Sherry Puncheon 20 Year Old Bottled in 2015

Glendronach 1995 is a 20 year old Single Malt whisky from Scotland. Bottled in 09.2015 at 55.3% this bottle will make a fine addition to any Scotland Single Malt whisky lover. Please note that this Distillery Bottling is Oloroso Sherry Puncheon. It is also worth mentioning that this is uncolored, non-chillfiltered, cask strength, single cask whisky edition of Glendronach. This is one of only 681 bottles ever produced. A fact, that makes this edition even more desirable.

Glendronach 1995 Oloroso Sherry Puncheon 20 Year Old Bottled in 2015 Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich butterscotch and christmas spices. Lots of allspice, chocolate, caramel, and prunes. Some old cigar box notes. Some spicy European oak-like notes come up after a while in the glass. This one's not nearly as complex as the single casks, or even the regular 18, but it's been rounded down to perfection.

Palate: Quite a body for a 43 %. Not lackluster, not watery, but rather filling, and so very sweet I'm afraid I'll get cavities. A chocolate milkshake with too much chocolate sauce, or maybe some oversugary latte. Heavy caramel. A total crowdpleaser, but... I am pleased. Some pepper, but the PX suffocates it beautifully. This will surely not make you think of 1960s Strathislas or 1970s Glendronachs, but in its own style it is a well built whisky.

Finish: Long, sugary coffee tail. The lovely sweetness lasts a while. Just the kind of stuff I'd love to have with a slice of chocolate cake.

Glendronach Distillery was founded in 1826 by James Allardice. Nestled in the Valley of Forgue, deep in the East Highland Hills, is The GlenDronach Distillery, one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland. We have been dedicated to creating the finest, richly-sherried Single Malts for almost 200 years. Over the nearly 200 years of their history, this traditional distillery has been bought, sold, and traded a lot of times. But in 2008 they were finally rescued by the BenRiach Distillery Company.
