Kent Rosenblum, “The King of Zin,” founded the cellars in Alameda, California in 1978 and began producing wine from grapes grown in areas of Northern California that, at the time, lacked recognition and appreciation. Today, Rosenblum works with grape growers throughout California to make up a portfolio of more than 50 wines. He is also a founding member of the Zinfandel Advocates and Producers group (ZAP!), a non-profit association with a mission to highlight Zinfandel and its unique place in American society and history. Zinfandel makes up a large portion of Rosenblum’s wine portfolio, including old vine, high altitude, and single vineyard examples of the variety, but the winery also produces Rhône-style red and white wines, and dessert wines.
