"A limited edition 13-year-old single malt from Glenrothes, released in celebration of the spookiest day of the year – Halloween! The whisky itself was distilled on Halloween 2004, matured in first-fill sherry seasoned American oak casks, and bottled 13 years later at 46.6% ABV.:
Glenrothes 13-Year-Old Halloween Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Almond, chocolate raisins, cinnamon slowly building in the background.
Palate: Baking spices once again, now paired with rich vanilla and a good helping of gingerbread.
Finish: Oily walnuts and cacao.
Distillery Information
Mashing is speedy, while fermentation in a mix of steel and wood is on the shorter side. A ratio of two wood to one steel balances any differences in character, while the length of the fermentation introduces a cereal note beneath the fruit. Distillation, however, is long in very tall stills with boil bulbs which help to maximize reflux and allow the full range of Glenrothes’ complexities to be teased out.
