        Producer Information

Fattoria La Lecciaia is a wine estate based just south of the Tuscan hilltop town of Montalcino. It produces a range of wines but is best know for its Brunello di Montalcino labels. It also makes Montecucco and Toscana IGT wines from vineyards closer to the coast. The Montalcino estate was thoroughly renovated in 1983 when it was purchased by owner Mauro Pacini. It has 16 hectares (39.5 acres) of vineyards, 12.5 hectares (31 acres) of which are planted to Sangiovese and classified for Brunello di Montalcino. Its neighbors include the prestigious Biondi Santi (their Tenuta Greppo lies just to the north) and Barbi estates. In 2002, Pacini bought lands within the commune of Grosseto in the Maremma, and has a further 16 hectares (40 acres) of vineyards there, with plantings of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon alongside other varieties, including the ubiquitous Sangiovese. A range of wines is produced including two Montecucco reds – one a Montecucco Rosso blend of predominantly Sangiovese with around 15 percent each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the other a Montecucco Sangiovese – as well numerous Toscana IGTs (red, white and rosΓ©).
