This single cask comes to us from family-run indie bottler Hunter Laing & Co. Specially selected and bottled for the Heritage series in the Platinum Old & Rare Selection, this expression was distilled at Glentauchers in Speyside in 1989. Matured for three full decades, it has been bottled at a natural cask strength of 45.7% abv free from all chill filtration and artificial colouring. Just 172 bottles have been produced of this limited edition.

Glentauchers 1989 30 Year Old Platinum Old & Rare Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: This golden whisky has a nose of apple crumble, caramel sauce, brown sugar, and cinnamon.

Palate: The palate is fruity with oranges, honey, strawberry, and green tea.

Finish: The finish is long and powerful, with lingering pepper and spice.

Distillery Information

Glentauchers distillery is a Speyside Scottish whisky distillery, founded in 1897. The building was designed by John Alcock, and the building was overseen by Charles Doig & Son. It starting producing when James Buchanan Co. Ltd. and three members of Glentauchers Distillery Co. joined hands with Glentachers a year after that. It was mothballed by United Distillers in 1985, and sold to Allied Distillers in 1989. Malts from this distillery are rarely bottled, usually, the produced whisky is used in blended whiskies. In 2000, an official bottling was released. This was a 15-year-old whisky. Before that a semi-official bottling was released by Gordon & MacPhail in the 1990s.
