Annandale Distillery's 'Malt of the Month' for November 2023 celebrates the stylish sherry that is fino, a variety of light-coloured, dry fortified wine from Spain which is produced from the Palomino grape and matured under a layer of yeast called flor. This prevents oxidisation and creates nutty, salty flavours that can be transferred to the whisky during maturation.

Distillery Information

Annandale Distillery was established in 1836, making it one of the earliest 'legal' whisky distilleries in Scotland. The Donald family lived in the farmhouse to the rear of the distillery during their time here. George, his wife Margaret, and their children, ran the distillery for almost 50 years.
