On the nose, Private Release AH02 reminded Joe of the smells and tastes he remembers from county fairs. Corn on the cob, funnel cake, strawberry milkshakes. We named it for two things: that particular set of olfactory sensations and the country the finishing barrel came from.

Nose: Creamy vanilla bean ice cream right away on the nose as soon as glass is lifted.

Palate: Rich, sweet grape varietal clearing showing itself off from the finish.

Finish: Werther's, flan, orange sherbert, Caramel with spiced plum, exotic wine tannins, and it turns quite bready on the linger.

Distillery Information

Founded in 2014, Barrell Craft Spirits scoops up extra casks of premium Bourbon and Rye and bottles ‘em up at full strength. Each batch is completely different. Sometimes the coolest casks on the market are Tennessee-style Whiskeys, sometimes they’re Kentucky Bourbon. The good stuff could be straight, or it could be a finished wood. The point is that they find the best odd lots and “left-overs” that would more likely be tossed into a generic blend and sell it to us in all of their glory.
