Glenrothes 1979 25 Year Old Douglas Laing Platinum Selection Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML

This extra rare 25 year old Speyside single malt was laid down at the Glenrothes distillery in 1979 and bottled by Douglas Laing & Co. for their Old & Rare Platinum Selection in 2005. Filled at a natural cask strength 51.9% ABV, this deep coloured malt has clearly spent a lot of time maturing in Sherry wood. If you were already purring at the thought of this wonderful single cask, then we best not tell you that this is one of just 235 bottles that comes supplied with wooden presentation case and COA.

Distillery Information

The Glenrothes Distillery is located in Rothes in the heart of the Speyside. It looks back on a very turbulent history. The day the first spirit was distilled at Glenrothes was 28 December 1879 and this might have been seen a bit as a bad omen: It was the day the Tay Bridge at Dundee collapsed. Several times The Glenrothes was hit by fire and it burnt down at last, but as a phoenix it rose again and today it’s back on the stage and playing a big role in the whisky game.
