Detailed Description

Distilled at the now closed Willowbank Distillery in Dunedin, this has been released by the New Zealand Whisky Co. It is comprised of 100% New Zealand malted barley and aged for 25 years in American oak, ex-bourbon barrels. Bottled at 40% ABV and sold in 375ml sized bottles. As of August 2017, this is now available in the US.

New Zealand South Island 25 Year Old Single Malt Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Subtle smoke, yellow fruit and drying grass.

Palate: Sweet malt, golden fruits, vanilla. Light peat influence.

Finish: Light and silky with delicate oak and sweetness.

Distillery Information

The Willowbank distillery was the last operational distillery in New Zealand and was closed by its then owners Fosters in 1997. Its stills were subsequently sent to Fiji for making rum.
