Detailed Description

The ancestral home of House Tully, Riverrun, sits at the junction of the Red Fork of the Trident and the Tumblestone River. The ruling Lord of the Riverlands, House Tully embodies the power and ferocity of the rivers it sits between. Using the power found in their positioning, House Tully forged strong alliances and built a history of honour, family and duty. Built along the banks of the River Fiddich, Glendullan Distillery originally relied on the waters it lay beside, using a water wheel to power the entire distillery. Like the Tullys themselves, this single malt can benefit from a splash of water, opening up flavours of green apple, honey and sweet vanilla.

Singleton Glendullan Reserve Game of Thrones House Tully Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: The light straw shimmer of this liquid hints at the cast lineage of this single malt that is 100% ex-Bourbon casks; that's confirmed by the heavy Madagascar vanilla opening on the nose followed by a suggestion of sweet, clove spice that develops over time.

Palate: On the palate it's initially driven by orchard fruits like apple; the clove returns but now with cinnamon as the palate develops.

Finish: A very long finish.

Distillery Information

Pronounced ‘Glen-Dul-lan’, this Speyside distillery was built between 1897-98 by William Williams & Sons, an Aberdeen based firm of blenders who in 1919 changed their name to Macdonald, Greenlees & Williams (Distillers) Ltd. Built on a site that could use water drawn from the River Fiddich and also take advantage of the railway siding at the neighbouring Mortlach distillery, Glendullan was the last of the seven distilleries built in Dufftown. Collectively known as the ‘Seven Stills of Dufftown’, the others were Mortlach (1824), Glenfiddich (1887), Balvenie (1892), Convalmore Distillery (1893), Dufftown (1896), Parkmore (1894). It is said that Rome was built on seven hills and Dufftown was built on seven distilleries.
