Cyrus Noble Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey

Cyrus Noble is a whiskey brand that has been reintroduced by the folks who have owned the trademark since 1922, the Haas Brothers. Folks claim this brand was a favorite Kentucky bourbon for San Franciscans and is currently being sourced from Heaven Hill. It is a 5-year old bourbon and is bottled at 90 proof. If the price remains the same ($25-30), this is one you should be adding to your coffers, San Franciscan or not.

Cyrus Noble Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: The aroma of the bourbon is more on the leather and dried herbs side (think thyme) than the syrupy, sweet side.

Palate: Once in a while you catch a glimpse of some dark chocolate or a little sweetened vanilla cream, but mostly what stands out is that nothing really stands out...and that is not a negative. The flavors harmonize well, but the volume is turned down to a gentle hum.

Finish: Lingering finish.

Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc., was founded in Bardstown, Kentucky by the Shapira family to produce and market Bourbon and premium American whiskeys. At the time, it was as speculative a new business venture as the dot com start-ups of the 1990's -- a company founded with no brands, no available stocks of whiskey, and at the height of the Great Depression. Today, the company is the largest independent, family-owned and operated producer and marketer of distilled spirits in the country. According to industry analysts, Heaven Hill is now the seventh largest spirits supplier in the United States and second largest holder of aging Bourbon whiskey in the world.
