White Wine: 2011 | Zind Humbrecht | Gewurztraminer Hengst Vendange Tardive
There's lovely balance to this floral version, lightly sweet and creamy on the palate, offering a well-cut vein of citrusy acidity that frames the flavors of cantaloupe, lychee, honeyed apricot and star fruit. A streak of zesty ground ginger and white pepper builds on the finish.

Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: Picked in mid-October at the end of their harvest of this vintage and from some of its only fruit to have achieved any significant degree of noble rot, the Zind-Humbrecht 2011 Gewurztraminer Hengst Vendange Tardive projects the sweet richness of dark, resinous honey, lychee preserves, butterscotch, praline, and spicy mango chutney. A creamy, almost buttery texture enhances the confitured and confectionary personality, yet a sense of primary juiciness, lift and energy emerges in the long, soothing finish such as one might not expect (though avowed “terroirists” would point to this site’s highly calcareous and water-retentive marl as predictive).
- Wine Spectator: There's lovely balance to this floral version, lightly sweet and creamy on the palate, offering a well-cut vein of citrusy acidity that frames the flavors of cantaloupe, lychee, honeyed apricot and star fruit. A streak of zesty ground ginger and white pepper builds on the finish.
Producer Information
Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is a highly regarded winery located in Turckheim, Alsace, and has been producing a range of wines from its own vineyards across the region for more than 50 years.A portion of the land that the domaine currently sits on has been passed through the Humbrecht family since 1620. Zind-Humbrecht was created in 1959 through the marriage of two winemaking families. Vineyards owned by both families, mostly on the hillside sites of the Vosges Mountains, were amalgamated into one domaine. Today the domaine is run by Olivier and Margaret Humbrecht, who have been in charge since 1989.Zind-Humbrecht currently has 40 hectares (100 acres) under vine, with just under half located near the new winery in the middle of the Herrenweg vineyard in Turckheim. The rest of the vineyards are spread out between the regions of Hunawihr, Thann, Gueberschwihr and Wintzenheim.
