      Detailed Description

Delicate and impressive depth on the nose. The finish is quite unique, rich and long lasting.

      Producer Information

Domaine Schoffit is a second-generation family wine producer, located in the outskirts of Colmar in Alsace, France. Viniculture and other forms of agriculture have been apart of the Schoffit family since 1599. The domaine was founded by Robert Schoffit in 1973. Throughout the 80s and 90s, Robert's son, Bernard negotiated an acquisition of 6.5 hectares (16 acres) of the Rangen de Thann Grand Cru. It is now grandson Alexandre Schoffit at the helm that continues the family winemaking tradition. Prior to acquisition, the Rangen de Thann Grand Cru was abandoned - an incredibly steep slope here creates challenging terroir for viticulture. Today, through determination and hard-work, Rangen de Thann Grand Cru, the southermost vineyard of Alsace, is a monopole of Schoffit. Other vineyards within the Schoffit portfolio include a small portion of the granitic Sommerberg Grand Cru as well as the lieu-dit Harth vineyard which is planted with 80-year-old Chasselas vines. The domaine is currently in the process of gaining biodynamic certification. The flagship of the Schoffit wine portfolio is the Clos Saint-Theobald Grand Cru Riesling sourced from an enclosure within the Rangen de Thann vineyard. A varietal Pinot Gris is also produced from the monopole of which is fermented in stainless steel prior to 12 months of aging in old French oak. Other wines include the Cuvee Caroline 'Harth' Riesling and the Cuvee Alexandre Gewurztraminer 'Harth' Vielles Vignes which is bottled with 55g/L of residual sugar. From Sommerberg, Schoffit produces a partially oak-fermented Riesling.
