This single malt Scotch whisky was bottled up by the Adrgowan distillery to celebrate its second open day on 7th September 2024. The whisky hails from a Highland distillery and spent its full 10-year maturation in a host of first-fill sherry hogsheads, each selected by Ardgowan's master whisky maker Max McFarlane. An exciting addition to the Inverdarach Editions.

Nose: Rich complex black cherries, heather honey, teak oil, and roast hazelnuts.

Palate: Full and intense with oat biscuits dipped in dark chocolate and notes of old bookshelves.

Finish: Long and lingering, light tannins, sweet black tea and cigar smoke.

Distillery Information

Ardgowan Distillery, known for Scottish whisky, is in Inverclyde, near the historic Ardgowan Estate. Though new to the long history of Scotch whisky, it has quickly become known for its excellent single malt whiskies. These whiskies capture Scotland's spirit and character. The distillery's location near the Firth of Clyde is key to its identity. The area's unique microclimate influences their whiskies. This often adds a subtle maritime quality that whisky fans value. Ardgowan combines traditional whisky-making with modern, sustainable practices. They use the latest technologies in distillation and maturation. This ensures precise and consistent production. They also aim to reduce their environmental impact. They use local ingredients and energy-efficient methods. The single malt whiskies are deep, complex, and smooth. They age in selected casks, adding rich and nuanced flavours. These casks include traditional oak, sherry, and bourbon barrels. They give the whisky notes of vanilla, caramel, fruit, and spice. This creates a balance between the spirit and the wood.
