Distillery Information

"Old Forester's story begins in 1870 with George Garvin Brown, a pharmaceutical salesman who revolutionized bourbon by selling it in sealed glass bottles for guaranteed purity, becoming "America's First Bottled Bourbon". Named after a physician friend, Dr. William Forrester, it was the first bourbon consistently sold by Brown-Forman (founded by GGB) before, during, and after Prohibition, thanks to a medicinal license that kept them afloat. Key innovations include batching from multiple distilleries for consistency, the Whiskey Row series (1870, 1897, 1910, 1920, 1924), and its deep roots in Louisville's Whiskey Row history."
