Calcarole Amarone Classico 2017 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard red wine from the Amarone DOCG of Veneto, northern Italy. Calcarole is a 5ha vineyard where the vines grow on a steep, rocky limestone hillside. It is one of the most revered vineyard sites in the Amarone region. This Amarone Classico is only produced in the best vintages and in very limited quantities. Made from partially dried `passito` grapes, this wine was matured for 12 months in 5hl oak casks and then a further 24 months in 25hl casks. This is a rich, heady, full-bodied red wine with complex, layered notes of sweet black cherries, ripe plums, figs, earth and sweet tobacco.
