It is also said to have been a favorite at the White House during several 20th Century administrations. Soon after Prohibition ended, Old Fitzgerald was bought by Pappy Van Winkle for $10,000. He introduced \"a whisper of wheat\" to the original recipe, in place of the more traditional rye, to give it a rounder, softer character.
