Glenfiddich's Malt Master Brian Kinsman was the first to double-mature a Glenfiddich whisky in two different casks (although shorter finishing periods in more than one kind of casks has of course been done several times before). This whisky has been matured for some time in traditional oak casks before finishing its maturation in sherry casks.

Detailed Description
The Glenfiddich Malt Master's Edition was named for the distillery's sixth Malt Master, Brian Kinsman, as he was their first Malt Master to double-mature Glenfiddich whisky in two different casks. This expression was initially matured in traditional oak casks, but was then finished for a number of years in Sherry casks to further develop the flavours, bringing warming fruitcake and gingerbread notes to the table.

Nose: The sherry wood influence is off to a commanding lead with maple glazed dried fruits but wet wood overshadows the nose.
Palate: In the mouth, the oak casks are given a chance with rich vanilla fusing with baking spices setting up a flash of oak tannins. The struggle is in taming the sherry influence and balancing its sweetness.
Finish: The dampness from the nose leaks into a soft finish.

Glenfiddich is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky owned and produced by William Grant & Sons in Dufftown, Scotland. Glenfiddich means "valley of the deer" in Scottish Gaelic, which is why the Glenfiddich logo is a stag.
