The mid palate is round and concentrated with the fruit balanced by earthy, savory, and spicy notes, suggesting this is a wine that will develop nicely over the coming years. Underneath you can see there's ripe dark-berry and plum fruit with soft, earthy herbs, and a polish of sweetly spiced oak, but give this plenty of air before those aromas emerge. Thanks in part to the reduction, acidity and tannins on the palate feel aggressive. Nevertheless there's juicy fruit, an appealing chalky texture and a long finish. A mouthful, this lacks the elegance the variety so willingly provides, but it does hint at better things to come in future.

James Suckling: Bold, with English breakfast tea, dense tannins and dried sage flavors in balance with licorice-laced plum and black cherry flavors. Established in 2001 by proprietor and winemaker Jules Taylor, it is highly regarded for its Sauvignon Blanc for which it has won several awards and accolades. Taylor grew up in Marlborough and, after receiving a post-graduate degree in winemaking, she worked at wine technology company Vintech in Marlborough. She then worked harvests in Piedmont, Sicily, Australia before arriving at Marlborough Valley Cellars, where she became the head winemaker for Kim Crawford. It was mentors like Simon Waghorn and Matt Thompson who convinced her to start her own brand, and in 2001, Taylor produced 200 cases of Riesling and Pinot Gris. Jules Taylor sources fruit from contract growers in the Wairau and Awatere Valleys in Marlborough. The portfolio has since expanded to include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Gruner Veltliner. The wines have various export markets around the world including Canada, the United States and various European countries.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0050/2395/7103/files/10_c585bb79-055e-470b-8d95-67656cf5f41e.jpg?v=1682967694
