This single malt from Ardnamurchan spent seven years maturing in a first-fill bourbon barrel, which was cracked open by the folks at indie bottler Chorlton Whisky. A total of 248 cask-strength bottles were drawn from the barrel.

Ardnamurchan 7 Year Old Chorlton Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Waves of oily, herbaceous smoke, meaty malt, walnut oil, and dried, smoked tropical fruit.

Palate: Robust layers of sweet peat bring medicinal notes balanced by banana bread and juicy grilled pineapple.

Finish: Waxed lemons, creamy chocolate, tarry smoke, brine, and peppercorns.

Distillery Information

The original was built in the Gorbals district of Glasgow in 1826, passing into the hands of Archibald Walker in 1880, making the firm the only distiller to make whisky in Scotland, Ireland and England. By 1887 it was producing over 500,000 gallons of both malt and grain whisky a year.
