Mortlach 1987 Cadenhead 30 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Mortlach 1987 CA is a 30 year old Single Malt whisky from Scotland. Bottled in 2017 at 48.2% this bottle will make a fine addition to any Scotland Single Malt whisky lover. Please note that this Cadenhead (CA) is Bourbon Hogshead. It is also worth mentioning that this is uncolored, non-chillfiltered, cask strength, single cask whisky edition of Mortlach.

Mortlach 1987 Cadenhead 30 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Lovely dusty but lively nose. Wild peaches, lychees, vanilla, biscuits and butter. A refined spiciness.

Palate: Starts fruity with citrus fruits, peach and pineapple. Mouth coating, with vanilla, butter, some coffee, laurel and dried oriental spices. Aromas of sesame seeds and sulfur develop.

Finish: Relatively long finish, with herbaceous notes and mild woody notes. No bitterness to feel. A lot of spice. Nutmeg, pepper, ginger. More dry than sweet. Mint resonates beautifully.

Distillery Information

Mortlach distillery is a distiller of Scotch whisky in Dufftown, Moray, Scotland. Founded in 1823, the distillery is currently owned by Diageo. The whisky is a key component in several Johnnie Walker bottlings., while Diageo also markets four Mortlach single malts.
Under Diageo’s ownership the distillery has continued to thrive, and hopefully will continue to release new official expressions.
