      Detailed Description

The largest scaled and most concentrated in the lineup is easily the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape La Reserve, which is 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre that was raised all in demi-muids. Just a flat out sensational bottle of wine, it offers tons of black currants, licorice, roasted meats and toasted spice aromas and flavors in a full-bodied, seamless, perfectly balanced style that’s drunk well since release. It’s great today, but has another decade or more of longevity.

        Producer Information

This is an area that deserves a shower of praise as the care taken in the vines and the quality of the wines produced is simply remarkable. At the head of the estate since 1979, Pierre Gauthier, supported by his wife, Catherine and joined in 2005 by his son, Rodolphe, masterfully manages 18 hectares of vines in organic farming (Ecocert certified since 2000) in the village of Well. Benefiting from a heritage of old Cabernet Franc which have taken root on the greatest terroirs of Bourgueil, the estate shapes wines of great intensity combining concentration, finesse and elegance. Demain les vins is proud to present the wines of the Domaine du Bel-Air which rank, without a doubt, among the greatest Loire reds. Wonders still too little known, to enjoy secretly… In 2005, the Gauthier family acquired without doubt one of Bourgueil's greatest treasures: the Clos Nouveau. This enclosure surrounded by tufa walls is the oldest in the village of Benais. It belonged to the monks of the abbey who had detected the high quality of the land on this place. After several successive purchases, the vine was planted on the plot at 19thcentury by a family of winegrowers from the village. It was in 2005, when the Clos was somewhat abandoned, that the Gauthier family decided to buy this untapped treasure. Pierre and Rodolphe Gauthier then undertook major work to rehabilitate the enclosure, notably by restoring the walls, replanting the stakes, and working the soil and the vines according to their philosophy.
