This is classic cool climate Grenache, with that beautiful cherry red color and wild cherry aromas as well. It also has nice, cool climate spice notes.

• Jeb Dunnuck: The 2018 Syrah Bien Nacido-X Block comes from a great part of this historic vineyard and was two-thirds destemmed and brought up in Burgundy barrels (one-third new). Awesome Syrah notes of blackberries, peppered game, bouquet garni, and violets all emerge from the glass, followed by medium body, good concentration, a focused, elegant texture, and a great finish.

• Vinous: Beautifully perfumed and expressive, the 2018 Syrah Bien Nacido X Block wafts from the glass with lavender, ink black cherry, plum, licorice and dried herb notes. This graceful, exquisite Syrah from Bob Lindquist is a total knock-out.
