In these Alpine foothills, the vineyards of Giovanni Merotto are located in a ring of hills surrounding Col San Martino, an ancient Lombard city north of Treviso. Since the early 1970’s, Graziano Merotto has been a passionate winegrower. His philosophy is captured in the quote, “To make good wine you need to know the land from which it comes and the sky above.” The steepness of the slopes where the vineyards are located means only manual work is possible, a craft handed down across the generations like an authentic religion of the earth, in which respect, sacrifice and dedication represent the authentic and deeply-felt values of traditional farming knowledge. Merotto owns 12 hectares of vineyards in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG production zone, and rents another six, for a total annual production of about 2.3 tons of grapes.
