Ron Malecon embodies this notion by celebrating the perfect marriage of Panamanian sugar cane with the craftsmanship of a celebrated Cuban blender's recipe. Sweet, premium cane molasses is fermented and distilled, only to rest for decades in re-charred bourbon barrels. This rum has been carefully aged in oak casks for over 25 years.

Bottled by Italian company Savio s.r.l., the Ron Malecon 25 is distilled in Panama. Given its age, it was likely distilled at the Varela Hermanos, best known for making Ron Abuelo, under the care of revered Master Distiller “Don Pancho” Fernandez. It lies near the top of the Ron Malecon range, alongside its 12, 15, 18, and 21-year siblings. The brand is not imported into the U.S. as of yet, but is readily available in Europe.
Malecon Reserva Imperial 25 Year Old Rum Tasting Notes
Nose: Toffee, Caramel, dried fruit. Perfumed and intense.
Palate: Full bodied pallet starts sweet, and quickly turns sweet. Rich with Fruit, tabacco notes, complex tanins.
Finish: Long, very long. Rich flavors of dried pineapple, interlaced with sublime spiciness.

Malecón produces World-class Rum on par with more prominent producers such as Ron Zacapa, El Dorado and Appleton.
