Kaiyo The Sheri Mizunara Oak Finish Japanese Whisky

The next installment of Kaiyo's excellent Japanese portfolio, The Sheri was initially aged in Olorosso and Pedro Ximinez Sherry casks, and then finished in Mizunara oak. Made from 100% malted barely, the whisky is unchillfiltered and bottled at 46% abv. The Sheri is said to be Kaiyo’s Master Blender’s finest work in his 15 year career, who created this whisky to share with his daughters at their wedding. Only 450 cases released world wide.

Nose: The nose smacks of butter toffee and candied fruits.

Palate: Starts off like desert with dried fruits, blackberry jam and chocolate notes.

Finish: notes of leather and charred oak.

Distillery Information

Kaiyo whisky is matured in the finest Japanese Mizunara oak casks. These casks are handmade due to Mizunara oak’s delicate wood grain. They are among the rarest casks in the world and are considered the finest in which to mature whisky. After years of maturing their casks go on a final maturation at sea voyage for up to 3 months, leaving from Osaka Japan.
