The 2017 is wonderfully elegant, with alluring aromatics of spices, cherries and dark fruits, with good acidity and lovely soft tannins. On the palate it is savoury and intense with a hint of liquorice on the long, persistent finish.

Detailed Description
Detailed Description
The Costanti family has owned this 10 hectare estate for over 200 years. Andrea Costanti inherited it from his uncle in the mid-1980s, and has worked hard to take it to its current positon as one of the very best in Montalcino. The style is characterised by a striking elegance and intensity, combining the power of Montalcino with the elegance that comes from vineyards situated at a high altitude in the northern part of the zone. The 100% Sangiovese grapes for the `Vermiglio` Rosso di Montalcino come from Costanti`s estate in the Brunello appellation, just outside the town of Montalcino. The 2017 is wonderfully elegant, with alluring aromatics of spices, cherries and dark fruits, with good acidity and lovely soft tannins. On the palate it is savoury and intense with a hint of liquorice on the long, persistent finish.
Producer Information
Conti Costanti is a well-regarded Brunello di Montalcino producer, based just southeast of the eponymous village of Montalcino, in the rolling hills of southern Tuscany, Italy. The estate is predominantly known for its range of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and Rosso di Montalcino wines although its portfolio also includes two Grappa di Brunellos. The Costanti family has a long and storied history in the region. It was involved in the formation of the Republic of Siena in 1555, and became a key presence in the area. The Costantis rose to winemaking prominence in the 19th Century when Tito Costanti was one of the first to make wines using the name "Brunello". Today, the winery is presided over by Andrea Costanti, who took over the family-owned business in 1983.
