Barrel No. 16-0142 is a unique barrel of rye whiskey. This barrel is the first of Spirit Works Distillery's new line of Whiskey Row Straight Rye Whiskey. It is made from a mash bill of 65% rye, 35% corn, and a healthy dose of barley malt, then aged in new oak barrels for 18 months. The rye whiskey is then aged in small barrels for an additional 6 months. The resulting whiskey is bottled at 43% ABV and has a deep amber color. The nose is rich with caramel, toffee, vanilla, and oak. The palate is full of vanilla, caramel, and oak with a long and spicy finish.
