Pink Pigeon Original Rum

A fabulous rum from Mauritius, flavoured with vanilla and spices including nutmeg. It was named for the Pink Pigeon, a bird that is native to the island and recently climbed from critically endangered to just endangered. (You know times are bad when being "endangered" is a step up.)

Pink Pigeon Original Rum Tasting Notes

Nose: Spiced, sweet and thick with molasses, cassia and hints of clove.

Palate: Custard to the fore, with a little toffee brittle, guava and cardamom. Hints of nutmeg and cedar.

Finish: Toasty, charred oak on the finish. Very sweet.

Distillery Information

The oldest distillery in Mauritius, the Medine Sugar Factory and Distillery have been in continuous operation since 1926. Being in the southern hemisphere, the cane season runs from July through November. Molasses from the sugar factory is fermented and distilled into rum before some of the production is aged at the distillery.
