Only 218 bottles were produced from a single hogshead of Bruichladdich Single Malt Scotch Whisky, which was aged for more than 30 years. This Victorian distillery combines coastal character with the heather honey notes more often found in malts.

Nose: Standing in a garden in summer with tones of elderflower, nettle cordial and honeysuckle intermingling with an earthy undertone. Notes of gingerbread mix and light aniseed give an indication of the rich body to come.

Palate: Honey water with more of the herbs; tarragon and mint expand across the palate while a wonderful delicate spice and cake batter coat the tongue while lemon and orange oil balance the inherent sweetness.

Finish: Lingering spice and elderflower seem to layer and linger on the palate as the sweetness slowly dissipates.

Distillery Information

Bunnahabhain was built in 1881, during the late 19th century whisky boom, and at the height of the Victorian period. By then, whisky distillation was already a well-established business. Its construction, even now, reflects the optimism, the scale and the grandeur that exemplified Great Britain's Victorian Age.
