Highland Park’s “The LIGHT” is the second release of their two-part series celebrating the Orkney climate and the distinctive influence it has on its whiskies. Deeply contrasting "The DARK," "The LIGHT" celebrates the spirit of renewal and the refreshing beauty of Orkney spring and summer months. Bottled in a beautifully embossed green glass vial, its serpent dragon design is inspired by the great Norse sagas, embracing both the high sun of the summer solstice and the low sun of the winter solstice. This stunningly vibrant single malt earned a Double Gold medal at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Highland Park The Light 17 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Vibrant citrus notes up front, before a wave of green apple and sawdust notes arrive.

Palate: Tangy mango, pear drops, vanilla-rich malt, a subtle hint of smoke (but not much!), pink peppercorn.

Finish: Resinous oak and waxy peels, with a touch of forest floor earthiness.

Distillery Information

Founded in 1798, presumably by Magnus Eunson, Highland Park’s distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery in Kirkwall Orkney. Highland Park is the northernmost distillery in Scotland, a half mile further north than Scapa distillery. Although the name of the whisky has “Highland” in the title, the name of the whisky does not refer to the Scottish Highlands, but rather to the fact that the distillery was founded on an area called 'High Park' which is distinguished from a ‘lower Park’ area nearby.
